The Gujarat Titans (GT) return to their fortress in Ahmedabad looking to bounce back strongly after suffering a damaging defeat against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Despite posting a strong 218-run total at Eden Gardens, GT were completely outgunned by KKR’s explosive batting unit and eventually lost by 29 runs. However, Shubman Gill’s side remains one of the strongest contenders this season, having already secured a playoff berth after Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) recent victory over Chennai Super Kings.
Back at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Gujarat will once again bank heavily on their destructive top order featuring Shubman, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler. Their batting has looked dominant throughout the season, while their pace attack of Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Jason Holder, and Prasidh Krishna continues to provide firepower with the ball. With home conditions expected to favour chasing sides, GT will aim to reassert itself before the playoffs begin.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head into this contest under immense pressure following their disappointing five-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chepauk. While CSK managed to post a competitive 180-run total courtesy of impactful knocks from Dewald Brevis and Kartik Sharma, their bowling attack failed to contain Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan during the chase.
Despite injury concerns disrupting their campaign, CSK still possess enough experience and depth to challenge any side on their day. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s leadership, coupled with the presence of players like Shivam Dube, Noor Ahmad and Jamie Overton, gives Chennai enough balance heading into this crucial encounter. However, facing Gujarat in Ahmedabad remains one of the toughest assignments in IPL 2026.

Narendra Modi Stadium Pitch Report
The Narendra Modi Stadium continues to provide excellent batting conditions, although the surfaces have slowed down slightly as the season has progressed. The red-soil wicket generally offers good pace and bounce early on, allowing fast bowlers to extract movement with the new ball. However, once batters settle in, stroke-making becomes significantly easier under lights.
One major factor expected to influence the game is dew during the second innings. Teams chasing have enjoyed success at this venue because gripping the ball becomes increasingly difficult for bowlers later in the night. While spinners may still find some assistance in the middle overs, anything below 180 could prove difficult to defend on this surface.
