The recent trend on ROH PPV in the Tony Khan era of leadership is one hardcore fight for the card. The pattern continues with the addition of a Texas Death Match to Death Before Dishonor on Friday, July 26, 2024 from Arlington, TX.
Khan booked the rubber match stipulation for Diamante and Leyla Hirsch. Round one went to Hirsch in a standard singles bout. Round two was won by Diamante in a Lights Out No Holds Barred match. Round three will be Texas Death.
The Death Before Dishonor lineup is slim pickings at the moment with a handful of days remaining before the PPV. The advertised card currently includes:
- ROH World Championship: Mark Briscoe (c) vs. Roderick Strong
- ROH Women’s World Championship: Athena (c) vs. Queen Aminata
- ROH Women’s World Television Championship: Billie Starkz (c) vs. Red Velvet
- Texas Death Match: Diamante vs. Leyla Hirsch
A few other bouts that could be added include:
- ROH World Tag Team Championship: Matt Taven & Mike Bennett (c) vs. To be announced
- ROH World Television Championship: Atlantis Jr. (c) vs. Kyle Fletcher
- ROH Pure Championship: Wheeler Yuta (c) vs. Lee Moriarty
- ROH World Six-Man Championship: Vacant
The Kingdom want the night off, but that’s hardly going to be granted by the boss man. Surprise challengers could be in the works. Atlantis Jr. won the ROH TV title from Kyle Fletcher down in CMLL, and a rematch is in order eventually. The question is if ROH wants give this new reign some legs and not have Fletcher lose again so soon. Lee Moriarty survived a Proving Ground match against Wheeler Yuta to earn his shot at the Pure Championship. I’m not sure what’s going on with the ROH six-man straps. The Bang Bang Gang were stripped of the unified belts due to an injury to Jay White. Christian Cage led the Patriarchy to win the vacant AEW World Trios Championship on Collision, and the ROH titles were nowhere to be seen. Perhaps new champions will be crowned at Death Before Dishonor.
