The race for the IPL 2026 playoffs intensifies as Rajasthan Royals (RR) prepare to face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a high-pressure clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. With the tournament entering its final phase, every game has now become a virtual knockout, especially for the Royals, who are desperately fighting to stay alive in the qualification race.
Rajasthan Royals enter this encounter under immense pressure after managing just one victory in their last five matches. Riyan Parag’s men have slipped out of the top-four positions at a crucial stage of the tournament, and their recent defeat against Delhi Capitals (DC) exposed several concerns in both batting and death bowling. However, RR will take confidence from returning to their home conditions in Jaipur, where their aggressive top-order featuring Yashasvi Jaiswal and teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has often provided explosive starts. With playoff hopes hanging by a thread, the Royals are expected to come out with a fearless approach.
On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants have finally started showing signs of consistency after enduring a difficult campaign for most of the season. Despite remaining at the bottom end of the standings, LSG have won two of their last three matches, including impressive victories against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Their batting unit, powered by Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran, and Josh Inglis, appears to have found rhythm at the right time. Captain Rishabh Pant will hope his side can finish the season strongly and potentially spoil Rajasthan’s qualification ambitions with another clinical performance.

Sawai Mansingh Stadium Pitch Report
The Sawai Mansingh Stadium surface is expected to provide a balanced battle between bat and ball. Traditionally, the Jaipur wicket offers good pace and bounce in the early overs, allowing stroke-makers to capitalize during the powerplay. Batters who settle in can score freely, especially square of the wicket, but the surface generally slows down as the innings progresses.
Spinners are likely to play a key role during the middle overs, with the dry nature of the pitch offering some grip and turn. Fast bowlers may also enjoy slight movement under lights with the new ball, particularly during the opening overs. However, dew could become an important factor later in the evening, making it difficult for bowlers to maintain control in the second innings. Totals in the 175-190 range have been competitive at this venue, though strong batting line-ups are capable of pushing scores beyond 190.
