Mysterio: ‘It was life-changing’
For me it was life-changing. I see a body, an opportuntiy, frog splash and we have the new, greatest intercontinental champion of all time.
Usually I get booed and they don’t let me talk, so this is a little different for me.
Starting off at the pandemic with no crowd to this, I need to lose the dead weight. My dad. I have solidified myself. Everyone said I would never fill Rey’s shoes. Now I am the greatest Mysterio of all time.
It felt correct. It’s where I should have been the whole time.
WrestleMania 41 results
Here are the results in full, courtesy of Alex.
How did you get on with your predictions?
Paul: ‘I am the future of this business’
I think I have had many WrestleMania moments. Every match I have had there is a moment and that is why fans know I am the future of the business. I have been here before, I have bought the best in the world and I have risen to the rop of every industry I have ever conquered and this is no different.
I was born to wrestle. Screw kayfabe – I felt like I was in my zone, flowing. It’s one of the few places where I feel like everything is perfect. I was able to be the best I could be, and that is a life accomplishment.
I am available, I am here. I signed up to be a WWE superstar. When Triple H calls me, I answer the call. I am in my fouth year of wrestling in WWE. I put on five-star matches every single time and I become the challenge.
Wrestling fans react
On the post-show, Cody Rhodes has just refused an interview with Cathy Kelly.
We are reminded that Cena has won the most world championships ever. He is a 17-time world champion, ahead of Ric Flair on 16.
Here’s how the internet has reacted. To be honest, it hasn’t gone down too well.
Press conference to come
John Cena is the champion.
The press conference is to come. I’m sure he’ll be there – probably in character, but maybe not.
Let me know what you think about that one in the comments. It was a bit underwhelming for me, I can’t lie.
WrestleMania comes to an end
Rhodes had the chance to be a bad guy in the moment and hit Cena with the belt. He hesitated and Cena hit him with a low blow and then the belt and picked up the win.
HIs iconic theme song rings out the Allegiant Stadium. Fireworks for the new champion.
No sighting of The Rock. We still have questions to be answered there – was the point not that he was supposed to help Cena?
That’s WrestleMania, folks.
Breaking:John Cena is a 17-time world champion
Rhodes is dethroned! Cena is the record holder – 17 titles!
A heel turn. A Scott interference. Some dodgy tactics. But Cena is world champion again! Did you expect to see that sight ever again?
Breaking:JOHN CENA BEATS CODY RHODES!!!
Scott is puished out the ring.
Cena has the belt across the ring. Cody blocks and hesitates when it comes to hitting Cena with the belt. Low blow from Cena!
Now he delivers a belt to the face!
The referee is up. Pin by Cena. JOHN CENA IS THE WORLD CHAMPION!!!
Travis Scott is here!
Travis Scott of course helped Cena attack Rhodes earlier this year. He’s been in wrestling training.
He slowly makes his way to the ring. He shakes Cena’s hand, and Scott’s hand is raised.
Cena set up Rhodes to be hit by Scott – which makes no sense because he would have been disqualified – and Scott pulls the referee out the ring as Rhodes goes for the pin.
The referee is down!
A top rope Cody cutter lands and Cena kicks out. Most of the crowd is booing Cody now.
Cross Rhodes is countered into another AA. STF locked in. Twice Cena drags him back. Referee goes down! Cross Rhodes hits. Pin is delivered but the official is down…
Cena exposes the turnbuckle. Cody off it. Twice. AA. The referee is up! Cody kicks out!
Cena hits his finisher twice!
Tornado DDT from Cena! He is impressing here, not going to lie.
Cena is somewhat laughing now. Great character work.
Boos now as Cody takes control! Such an intriguing crowd. Fans want Cena.
Cena hits the AA! Rhodes kicks out! Cena laughs!
The five knuckle shuffle. Looks for another AA. Countered.
He goes for the top rope AA. And hits it! Wow! Another kick out!
Cena embracing his heel persona
Cena leaves the ring and Rhodes flies through the ropes to hit him. But Cena recovers with a big right hand. We are just getting started.
Things are picking up now, with Cena in control. They need to be careful because Cena technically hasn’t won a match in seven years.
We have a long way to go yet.
The main event is underway
We are underway. One of the biggest matches in the history of WrestleMania.
Who knows what awaits? The crowd has come alive.
A slow start as they grow into the match and atmosphere. Cena takes some time out of the ring. The ‘let’s go Cena’ and ‘Cena sucks’ chants are loud.
This is Cena’s first match as a heel. His facial expressions are funny. A hell style of using the ropes and stuff like that being employed.
Cody Rhodes joins him
Motorbikes for Cody. The stadium is generally split on this.
I was at the O2 for SmackDown and RAW earlier this year and it was the same. John Cena may be a bad guy, but he truly is a legend.
Final predictions? There’s something I just cannot shake that says Cody retains.
He shared a moment with his two-year-old daughter, as well as wife Brandi, and his mum and sister.
Alicia Taylor carries out the introductions. It’s time.
John Cena makes stunning entrance
John Cena takes to the ring. No colours, all in black. No smiles. No nothing, as Pat McAfee puts it.
It’s quite the spectacle. I kind of expected a big final entrance, but it makes sense. No happiness at all. The whole arena in black.
John Cena has consistently been in this business for over 20 years and hardly ever got injured. I’m not going to say he’s the greatest athlete of all time, but his in-ring work skills are incredible. He’s an incredible promo cutter and he’s stuck with the WWE for over 20 years, and he won 16 World Heavyweight titles. I believe he’s the greatest WWE superstar of all time.
And he does deserve that 17th world title because that will set him apart from anybody else. Ric Flair has 16, Triple H has 15. But John Cena? I believe he deserves that 17th.
Stone Cold Steve Austin?!
The glass shatters! Could they not have arranged that last year?!
Anyway, Stone Cold Steve Austin is here, just like he was last night. 24 hours ago he was there for his Hall of Fame induction regocnition, now I think he might be about to deliver the attendance number.
He bolts to the ring on a four wheeler. And crashes into the wall.
Here’s the attendance. 63,226. More than last night.
He’s demanding a recount. ‘That’s bullls***,’ he says.
The big one is up next
We are now six bouts down, which means just one is left. And it’s the big one.
Genuinely, strap in for this. There’s so much to it.
The greatest of all time, John Cena, is in his final year wrestling before retiring. He performed a stunning heel turn – the first of his career – earlier this year. He will now face Rhodes, the man he helped win the title at last year’s WrestleMania, for the title.
Cena has aligned with The Rock, who hasn’t been seen since they formed the alliance. Will Heyman and Rollins have a say, or is it unrelated? Will The Rock turn up? What will Cena have in story for his final WrestleMania?
So many questions to be answered. Cannot wait.
Breaking:BECKY LYNCH AND LYRA VALKYRIA BEAT LIV MORGAN AND RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ
Hot tag to Lynch and Morgan looks like she has seen a ghost.
Rodriguez breaks up the dis-arm-her. She eats an oblivion but Lyra breaks it up. Man handle slam – we have new champions!
So Lyra now has two belts! She is the IC champ and the tag champ.
Big hugs all round. The story takes another turn.
Will it be a successful return for Lynch?
There is a bit of history here – Becky and Lyra are both Irish and Becky has been a bit of a mentor to the current IC champ, having also faced her in NXT.
No idea who wins – Bayley will surely be involved in some way – and it’s a bit of a meh story with Bayley being taken out, in my opinion.
Still, the champions are on top right now.
Breaking:Becky Lynch is back!
It’s the tag title match next. Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, the champions, are first out.
Lyra Valkyria will have a surprise partner. Bayley was meant to team with her but, in story, was attacked yesterday.
And it’s Becky Lynch! She’s back!
After 10 months, The Man has returned.
There was debate over whether she would stay with WWE. Her contract was up 10 months ago, her last match being when Liv Morgan beat her in a steel cage.
But a new deal was signed, and Lynch is back – and in this match.
Your new IC champion
Triple H has shared his traditional new champion snap with Dominik Mysterio.
What a reign we have in store.
Breaking:LOGAN PAUL BEATS AJ STYLES
Paul on top for most of this match, with a lot of showboating. Lots of boos, as you’d expect.
Styles now on the attack more. He goes for the phenominal forearm but is caught with a rolling senton.
Paul goes for the big knockout punch. Styles counters.
Paul hits the styles clash! Styles’ own move!
Styles then hits one of his own, though!
Oh, someone form Logan’s entourage is here. That Jeff guy. Karrion Kross stops him giving him the brass knuckles?!
Styles puts Jeff into the barricade and Kross tries to give him the brass knuckles. Styles throws them away and decks Kross.
Big rght hand. Paul hits his finisher. One, two, three. Sigh.
‘McIntyre’s brother passed him the phone’
Alex McCarthy, Mail Sport, Allegiance Stadium:
In case it hasn’t been said, it was McIntyre’s brother John who passed him the phone
Paul looking good early on
The bell rings, then, and we’re underway.
Paul is a good wrestler, but is not liked. Period. Styles is, meanwhile, loved.
Should be a good wrestling match, though. Paul has stood tall in their encounters recently.
Lots is being made of this drone in a bid to make the most of varous camera angles.
A nice frog splash from Paul. Styles kicks out.
Dudley: ‘Logan Paul is a natural athlete’
I don’t think anybody saw this happening. He’s [Paul] a natural athlete. I don’t think anybody really saw that. I think Logan’s matches with Ricochet really set him above any other guy that came in from the outside world into pro wrestling. Especially where he came from.
He’s proven to a lot of people that he has what it takes: the natural ability, charisma, and all that he has. What it takes to basically make it in WWE, and he’s been doing that. So my hat goes off to him. He’s a tremendous athlete. I don’t think anybody saw this coming. He’s a natural.
Here’s Logan Paul
Real boos for Logan Paul as he takes to the ring with a selfie stick-style drone. ‘They don’t mean that,’ he says. They do.
His theme is a bit of a bop, to be fair. I’ll give him that.
Orton gives Hendry his flowers
Short, sweet, to the point, did its job.
A sign of respect after the match as orton helps Hendry to his feet. An emotional Hendry. Quite a star.
One last RKO to finish things. As he does. He then does the funny turn thing Hendry does.
Four down. Good fun so far. Logan Paul is up next.
Breaking:RANDY ORTON BEATS JOE HENDRY
Orton goes for an early RKO as fans chant ‘we believe’.
Hendry rolls up for an near fall.
Orton with an eye poke and then a DDT.
Already going for the RKO early. Countered.
An RKO out of nowehere as Henry smiles at the camera! Orton wins!
Breaking:Randy Orton will face JOE HENDRY
The TNA world champion is here. The man who has absolutely taken off in the last few months has stepped up to face Randy Orton.
I had hoped for Nick Aldis, not going to lie. But WWE are again capitalising on popularity, and this should be a good match.
Randy Orton takes to the ring
Randy Orton is on his way out for his match, which will be against a mystery opponent.
He was supposed to face Kevin Owens, but he is seriously injured and will go for neck surgery soon. It’s Orton’s 20th anniversary, however, and he will indeed have a match.
We just don’t know who against. The candidates are the likes of Nick Aldis, Rusev and Alestair Black. Omos and Joe Hendry have also been touted in the last few hours.
We are minutes away from finding out who his opponent will be.
‘The crowd is going insane for Dom!’
Alex McCarthy, Mail Sport, Allegiance Stadium:
Las Vegas loves Dirty Dom! The crowd wanted him to win and in keeping with the wonderful booking of the night so far, WWE duly delivered. This crowd is going insane for Dom!
Mysterio is a champion!
Mysterio was booed out of every building when he turned on Rey. He has been the biggest heel in the business.
Tonight, fans were cheering him and singing his name. He’s just clashed with Balor, and is all smiles as he leaves the ring with the belt.
The right call. And another great match. Night two is delivering!
Breaking:DOMINIK MYSTERIO BEATS FINN BALOR, PENTA AND BRON BREAKKER
Breakker back in the ring and sets up for the spear. A big spear to Penta and Dom hits the 619! Balor takes him out as he tries to land the splash.
Slingblade and Coup de Grace. Dominik splashes onto Balor… and Dominik is the champion! The crowd love it!
Through the table!
I think The Judgement Day has just imploded. Diminik tees up the 619 – Balor blocks and stomps his mate into the ground.
Penta driver lands and Breakker has to break it up. Fans are singing Mysterio’s name.
Carlito breaks up a pin from Penta on Mysterio.
BRON SPEARS CARLITO THROUGH THE TABLE! So cool.
Breakker impressing early doors
Breakker leathers Penta to start and The Judgement Day duo clear house.
Penta flies over the top rope, and Breakker jumps at him with what must feel like getting hit by a bus!
Spear to Mysterio. Balor breaks it up.
Carlito is out here now too. All is well with The Judgement Day so far.
Intercontinental title match underway
A nice hype package for the next match, as we prepare for the intercontinental bout.
Will be interesting to see what happens here. I’m personally expecting a title change, but we’ll see.
Could also be a form of Judgement Day break-up or something like that.
Anyway, Penta is first out. Then Mysterio – in a mask – alone. The announcers laugh as he struggles to get the mask off. It had a zip on the back.
Balor has no issues with his mask.
The dogs are then barking for Breakker. One of my favourite wrestlers about!
‘WWE are well aware how valuable both men are’
Alex McCarthy, Mail Sport, Allegiant Stadium:
Drew wasn’t happy with his WrestleMania spot, but both he and Priest made the most out of what they were given.
WWE is well aware how valuable both men are, now it’s up to them to show them.
A physical masterclass
A really physical match. I guarantee both are hurting a lot – legitimately.
McIntyre’s hands is raised on the steel steps. A cracking ovation.
Two really good matches so far. Can it continue? Given it’s the triple threat up next, I would expect so!
Breaking:DREW MCINTYRE BEATS DAMIAN PRIEST
McIntyre is bleeding. Shock.
He hits a future shock on the steps! Kick out. More chants of ‘this is awesome’ – night two is shining so far.
OH! Priest is sent through the two tables on ringside, falling from the top rope!
‘Holy s***’ come the chants!
And now a claymore is delivered! Head against the chair in the corner, and Drew gets the pin!
Weapons galore!
Two tables set up and McIntyre stands over them. Someone is going through them at some point.
He l9nes up the claymore and takes a chair to the face. He does then hit the finisher, but Priest kicks out.
The chair is around Priest’s neck. He hits a chokeslam instead, kick out.
There’s also a chair up in the corner now… this will explode at some point.
Razor’s egde through the table! McIntyre kicks out!
McIntyre takes to social media during his match!
McIntyre attacks Priest before the bell ahead of the bell. Lots of physicality early on, too.
This story makes sense. It started last year when Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank on McIntyre and then eliminated him from the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber. He also beat him at Clash at the Castle.
Priest goes for the tables.
Wheyyy, McIntyre is on X during the match again.
McIntyre vs Priest up next
A bit of a controversial one this. Many weren’t happy that Drew was put in this match when he had such a good 2024.
But they have made the most of it – two solid workers who will put on a good match. I expect McIntyre will go over.
In London, McIntyre was put through real glass of course. He is out first.
Priest follows. A cool entrance as he’s played live to the ring by Slayer. This is a SIn City street fight, by the way.
‘Among the all-time WrestleMania openers’
Alex McCarthy, Mail Sport, Allegiant Stadium:
That should be viewed among the all-time WrestleMania openers. Phenomenal action and a great finish. The press box was going wild for an IYO win.
A corker of an opener!
What a great match. The right winner too, I feel.
Really enjoyed that opener. Sky, though the champion going into the match, was the in-story underdog.
Really interested to see where they go next. The fans wanted Sky, and they got it. What an opener.
Breaking:IYO SKY BEATS BIANCA BELAIR AND RHEA RIPLEY
Rhea locks in a submission but Belair breaks it up to go for the KOD.
Iyo goes up top, all three women end up there and hit the deck. Good fun, this triple threat – as fans sing ‘this is awesome’.
Riptide to Belair, kick out.
Rhea goes for another to Sky. Countered.
A top rope Riptide attempt is countered and Belair hits the KOD on Sky. Ripley stops the pin!
Sky goes face first off the ring post. Belair comes in, KOD blocked… Riptide blocked… Bianca whips Ripley!
KOD lands… Sky breaks ot up from the top rope – and retains!
Night Two starting strong
A start typical of the story so far as Rhea and Bianca look to face off, ignoring Sky before the champion forces her involvement.
All three women have some time out of the ring as there are various one-on-one battles in the ring.
Belair is embracing the boos. But already a good start – and hard to call, this.
‘Loud boos for Bianca’
Alex McCarthy, Mail Sport, Allegiant Stadium:
Loud, intense boos for Bianca Belair once again and they’ve followed her all weekend.
There were more cheers when she embraced the kids and dancers on the stage, but one has to think in a triple threat with two other babyfaces and the Jade Cargill/Naomi storyline hanging over her… if anyone is primed to turn, it’s her.
The first match is underway!
Sky is out first, followed by Belair, who is joined by her stepdaughter on stage for her entrance. And a few others and some skipping ropes.
Ripley is out last in a pretty cool mask. A great ovation.
I think it was last year that she suffered a panic attack before her match. Let’s hope she’s ok this time.
Stephanie McMahon takes to the ring
Stephanie McMahon is out tonight, stood in the ring! Always good to see her.
‘WWE has always been a part of my life, which includes all of you,’ she says.
‘WWE is family and I am so proud to say welcome home. Welcome to night two of WrestleMania.’
WrestleMania 41 Night Two is live!
Michael Cole introduces us to the show, as we start with a drone shot of Allegient Stadium.
The arrivals feature the likes of The Judgement Day, Penta and Randy Orton. Orton of course has an open challenge.
The running order
Circa three minutes to go until tonight’s show gets underway, and PWInsider have revealed the running order for what lies ahead.
We will be starting with the triple threat title match in a matter of minutes, after the shenanigans that I am sure await the opening.
Two of the champs
Jey Uso won his first world title last night, while Tiffany Stratton retained hers with the biggest win of her career.
Here’s a happy snap of the duo. Both have been criticised, but showed out last night.
Exclusive:Dominik Mysterio speaks ahead of title match
Alex has been out an about in Vegas this weekend talking to all the stars – including Dominik Mysterio.
The man everyone loves to hate could win his first main roster singles gold tonight, going into his interncontinental title match as favourite to win the belt.
He has been speaking to our man about hating CM Punk, coming out of his dad’s shadow, and his on-screen love traingle with Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan.
A bit of fun on WWE socials earlier, with a number of stars picking who they think will win tonight’s main event.
Jey Uso, Austin Theory, Damian Priest and Solo Sikoa all feature.
Logan Paul’s reaction to night one main event
I’m still not fully over last night’s dramatic main event. Was one for the ages.
Logan Paul is in action tonight against AJ Styles, but he appeared to love it too. Here’s his reaction, which he shared on X.
Someone who has interacted with all three men involved in the match last night, of course.
Bischoff: ‘John Cena hasn’t gone that far’
I don’t know if John is resisting embracing the heel character, or if it’s been decided that he doesn’t want to go too far. The risk of going too far for John would be that it’ll be hard for him to come back from. So if he goes full fledged heel, starts biting the heads off chickens and slapping babies on the way to the ring, flat out ugly heel, how do you come back from that?
He hasn’t gone that far. Even his appearance. If you turn off the volume, forget about everything that’s happened up until today, go back and watch John Cena over the last couple of weeks and go look at him in 2005 – same guy.
“So there hasn’t been a physical representation of this character turn. It’s all been narrative to this point, which tells me one of two things.
Tonight’s card
If I had to pick, I would say tonight’s card is the better of the two. Headlined, of course, by John Cena bidding to win a record 17th world title against Cody Rhodes.
Here’s the rundown of tonight’s line-up:
Iyo Sky vs Bianca Belair vs Rhea Ripley
AJ Styles vs Logan Paul
Bron Breakker vs Penta vs Finn Balor vs Dominik Mysterio
Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez vs Lyra Valkyria and ???
Drew McIntyre vs Damian Priest
Randy Orton vs ???
Cody Rhodes vs John Cena
Night one was a bit up and down in all honesty, but had a killer main event that absolutely stole the show.
Seven matches, three title changes, one major twist and a lot of good fun overall. Let’s hope for the same tonight.
Alex McCarthy is our man on the ground at Allegiant Stadium, and he wrapped up the results and events with some of his expert analysis. You can read that here, or click below.
We’re back for night two!
We’re back, and we’re ready to do it all over again!
That meme may be lost on some, but we are back live for night two of WrestleMania 41 with seven more matches to close out the biggest show of the year.
I’m Lewis Browning and I’ll be here all night to take you through the action until the early hours. So get the pizza in the oven and settle down for an night of action.
The show gets underway at 12am BST, so stay tuned for all the build-up before then!
