The second chapter of Dani Alves in Barcelona is not going to be very long. The club will not renew the contract with the experienced defender. The 39-year-old defender’s return to Camp Nou is set to end with the end of his contract later this month.
Another club, Great Alves, was brought back at the end of last November after club legend Xavi Hernandez became the coach. The deal is with him for the rest of the season.
The club’s experienced fighter was brought back to give some confidence to the beating Barcelona. The defender, who was a free agent at the time, joined the club, which had spent a glorious chapter of his career on a minimum wage. According to various media reports, he was interested in staying at Bar্সa for another season at the end of this season. However, Barcelona did not show interest in the new agreement.
In an emotional message on Instagram on Wednesday, Alves confirmed that his journey to Barcelona was coming to an end.
“It simply came to our notice then. I would like to thank all the staff for giving me the opportunity to return to this club and for putting on this wonderful jersey again.
Hopefully, they won’t miss my madness and entertainment. Those who are staying, hopefully they will change the image of this great club. I wish this from the bottom of my heart. ”
Alves joined Barcelona in 2006 after a stellar season in La Liga. That was the beginning of the best time of his career. He quickly became the mainstay of the team’s defense. He played 391 official matches in Barcelona jersey till 2016.
In those eight seasons, the club won six La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues, three Club World Cups and many trophies.
He left Barcelona in 2016 and joined Juventus. From there he returned to his country’s club Sao Paulo as PSG. But he broke his contract with Sao Paulo last September because he did not agree on a salary. Later his new chapter started in Barcelona.
The end of that chapter is only after playing 18 matches.
