Sri Lanka has only four days’ supply of oil: Energy Minister

There has been an outcry in Sri Lanka for fuel oil. Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera fears that the country’s current oil reserves will meet demand for at least four days.

Reuters reports that Sri Lanka’s economy has plunged to record lows in the country’s foreign exchange reserves. The people of the country have not been in such a crisis in the last seven decades.

Customers have lined up several kilometers at petrol pumps in Sri Lanka to buy oil amid the crisis. In many places car owners have been waiting all night for petrol and diesel. Protests are also taking place due to all these.

The sellers of fuel oil have 825 million left in Sri Lanka, according to Kanchana Wijesekera.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka is waiting for a 500 million loan from an Indian government bank.
