Los Angeles Sparks star Nneka Ogwumike called out the WNBA for having her and other teammates sleep in the airport while facing flight delays.

Los Angeles Sparks star Nneka Ogwumike posted a video to Twitter calling out the WNBA for making her and other teammates sleep in the airport while facing flight delays.

According to Ogwumike, half of the team got hotels while the other half had to stay in the airport overnight.

Sparks assistant coach Latricia Trammell also tweeted about the situation. She posted a picture of airport seats and stated, “These players deserve better.”

This isn’t the first time the WNBA has been called out on travel. According to Just Women’s Sports, many players have tried to get the WNBA to provide chartered flights rather than commercial. No steps have been taken forward.

Ogwumike is a positively outspoken player and often raises awareness to issues in the WNBA.

LA Sparks star Nneka Ogwumike has made the WNBA aware of several issues

The star forward has spoken out about several WNBA issues, including Brittney Griner’s sentence and the pay players receive. Her voice should undoubtedly make a difference considering she’s one of the best players in the organization.

She has an extensive list of accomplishments, including MVP, WNBA Champion, six All-Stars, No. 1 pick in the WNBA Draft and WNBA President.

Ogwumike also positively impacts her team every time they play. According to CBS Sports, “Every time the team looks down and out it finds a way to bounce back, thanks in large part to All-Star forward Nneka Ogwumike.”

Ogwumike constantly brings positive changes to the WNBA, and hopefully she’ll be able to influence a travel change too.
