Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said that he has been playing with a broken thumb since Week 5.
The Green Bay Packers‘ season has not gone the way they had expected, as they sit 4-7 on the year. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers hasn’t put up the MVP numbers like he did in the past two years, as his wide receivers corps is not as stacked like it used to be with Davante Adams. However, he has been playing half of the season with a thumb injury.
During his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers did not confirm or deny that he had suffered a broken thumb when asked by the sports media star and former NFL punter.
On Wednesday, Rodgers revealed during a media scrum that he has been dealing with a broken thumb since Week 5 when the team played the New York Giants in London. The clip below comes courtesy of The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman.
Aaron Rodgers confirmed today his right thumb has been broken since Week 5, when the injury happened on the last play in London.
Here he is talking about it for a bit. Surgery has never been a thought and it won’t be after the season, either, he said. pic.twitter.com/FbbMOkXYtc

Aaron Rodgers confirms he’s been playing with broken thumb since Week 5
“I think I’ve had worse injuries I’ve played with,” said Rodgers. “It’s definitely a challenge, but the days off helped. Feeling better this week.”
As you heard in the opening question, the reporter references a tweet from a Make-A-Wish kid who met Rodgers recently. Twitter user @BigPackers4x said that when he met Rodgers, he asked him how his finger was, to which the quarterback replied that his thumb was broken.
Since this is a big talking point today let’s break some news. I asked Rodgers during my Make-A-Wish how his finger is and he replied that his thumb is actually broken. His thumb was still really bruised and swollen last Saturday.

The injury occurred on the final play of the aforementioned game against the Giants, where he attempted to throw a deep pass, but was hit in the hand and arm from behind by linebacker Oshane Ximines.
Since then, the Packers have lost five of their next six games. Granted, it was an all-around effort in those losses, but it is still something that Packers fans will look back on.
As Rodgers mentions in the video, he doesn’t plan on getting surgery.
Rodgers and the Packers are set to take on a 9-1 Philadelphia Eagles team on Sunday Night Football.
