A report on Benjamin Sesko from Manchester United‘s head of recruitment has resurfaced in the wake of the club’s interest in the striker.
After his side managed a paltry 44 Premier League goals last season Ruben Amorim has wasted little time in bringing in additional firepower for the coming campaign.
Matheus Cunha was the first to make his way through the door at Carrington, with United paying Wolves £62.5million to secure the Brazilian’s services.
United followed that up by completing the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford last month.
A striker capable of leading the new-look forward line remains on Amorim’s shopping list and the 22-year-old Sesko certainly appears to fit the bill with at least one enthusiastic endorsement to his name.
Christopher Vivell has served as United’s director of recruitment since the summer of 2024, having previously worked at Chelsea and Hoffenheim.

However, it was during Vivell’s time at Leipzig that he first worked alongside Sesko and the Slovenia international clearly made an instant impression.
In his analysis of the 22-year-old Vivell claimed Sesko has all the attributes to become one of the world’s leading players.
‘Benjamin Šeško is among the game’s top young talents and has enormous potential to become a top player.’ Vivell said, per Bundesliga.com.
‘He has all the qualities to do that. He’s extremely quick, has a great jump on him and is strong in the air.
‘Benjamin is a real goalscorer, who despite his 1.95m (6’4″) is mobile and technically strong.
‘His abilities make him a special player with a special profile.’
Should United be able to complete a deal for Sesko, the Slovenian would likely take up the position previously occupied by Rasmus Hojlund.
Hojlund has endured a difficult two years in the Premier League since completing a £72million move from Atalanta in the summer of 2023, and managed just four league goals last season.
In recent days the Denmark international has affirmed his desire to stay and fight for his place even if United bring in Sesko and Amorim reportedly believes that competition could bring out the best in him.
United’s hunt for a new frontman had previously led them to be linked with Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.
It’s understood that United approached Villa over a deal in the region of £45million for the England international, but their Premier League rivals did not want to sell and it would have taken a significantly higher offer to alter that stance.
The club have subsequently turned their attention squarely to Sesko, with RB Leipzig understood to be prepared to allow him to leave for £60-70m plus add-ons to certain clubs.
United are not the only club hoping to lure Sesko to the Premier League this summer, however.
Newcastle have earmarked the Slovenian as a potential signing after missing out on Hugo Ekitike and with Alexander Isak’s future in the North East still unclear.
