Fans forced to leave Warriors-Pistons NBA game after worrying PA announcement

NBA fans were forced to leave Chase Center in San Francisco on Saturday night after a fire alarm was pulled in the middle of the Warriors-Pistons NBA game.

The worrying scenes unfolded at the end of the first quarter when a scary message appeared on the huge screen above the court, urging fans to head to the exits.

The message read: ‘Attention: There has been a fire alarm reported in the building. Proceed to the nearest exit and leave the building. Do not use elevators.’

Reporters covering the game claimed that some fans immediately followed the instructions and rushed to the exit, while others stayed put in their seats.

It is as yet unclear whether the alarm was a test or a real incident, but the game continued shortly after, despite some fans having left their seats.

Bay Area sports reporter Cam Inman wrote on X shortly after the alarm ended that ’20 percent of fans had left their seats for the exits’, before being told they could return.

A PA message to fans said: ‘Attention fans, we have just gotten the all-clear signal. You may return to your seats.’

It was also reported shortly after the incident that all music and arena sounds had been stopped at Chase Center in the wake of the alarm.

One fan in attendance wrote on X: ‘First a fire alarm then no PA system at the @warriors game. Hey @ChaseCenter what’s going on?! We want our music back.’
