49ers star and his wife announce death of newborn baby son after twin was lost in

San Francisco 49ers star Trent Williams and his wife Sondra have announced the death of their baby son.

Williams’ wife Sondra said the couple were initially expecting twins but lost one of the babies during the pregnancy.

In a statement on Instagram on Monday, Sondra wrote: ‘My Forever Angel, Trenton O’Brien Williams Jr. It’s been extremely hard trying to process the saddest Hello and Goodbye that I’ve ever had to endure.

‘Last Sunday night on 11/24/24; I welcomed your lifeless 4lb 8oz, 18.5in long little body at 11:38 pm. At only 35 weeks, your impactful and quick arrival didn’t even give mommy time to get an epidural. As much as I tried to prepare myself for our meeting, I wasn’t prepared nor would I ever be.

‘After losing your twin early in the pregnancy, I prayed and hoped that your diagnosis of Trisomy 13 wasn’t true and wouldn’t be the fate of my long awaited beautiful Son-shine. My firstborn and only son, l’ve always wanted you, but God wanted and needed you more.

‘Knowing you are in Heaven with your Great-Aunt Vivian and that you will Always be our Guardian Angel brings me great comfort in the midst of all this sorrow. My heart is heavy.

‘Being home without you in my arms has been quite an adjustment. Knowing I will never be able to watch you grow older alongside your sisters has my eyes filled with tears.

‘I can’t even begin to describe how I felt leaving the hospital without you. Nor how it feels being home celebrating Thanksgiving without my baby in my arms. My heart is broken and my arms are empty.’

The couple have three daughters together.

Offensive tackle Williams, 36, was absent from the 49ers game against the Bills in Buffalo on Sunday with an ankle injury.

Williams started his career in 2010 in Washington, when the Commanders picked him fourth in NFL Draft, before joining the 49ers in 2019.

Williams’ teammate in San Francisco, Charvarius Ward, announced in October that his one-year-old daughter Amani Joy had died.

Ward had revealed last year that his daughter had been born with Down syndrome and had two holes in her heart.

‘She was the best blessing we could have asked for, and her joyous spirit made us smile from ear to ear,’ Ward said.

Williams’ teammate Charvarius Ward lost his one-year-old daughter earlier this year

‘She taught us to have patience, trust, and a positive outlook on life. She showed us true strength and bravery. She overcame adversity at a young age and was always happy, lighting up every room with her smile.’

Ward played his first game for the Niners since his daughter passed away in the loss to the Bills on Sunday night.

San Francisco are back in NFL action on Sunday against Chicago Bears in California.
