Officials announced on Tuesday that Greenville will host a major sports event, calling it the biggest event ever held in the city and one of the largest in South Carolina. Officials said the event will bring more than 50,000 people to the area between March and July of that year, generating a projected $70 million economic impact.The event is prompting the construction of 60 new bowling lanes at the convention center, according to officials.When the championship is over, all the wood and wiring used to create the lanes will be donated to Habitat for Humanity to build future homes, officials said.
